Many people think of hair transplantation as a cosmetic treatment. In reality, it is a surgical medical procedure.
It involves diagnosis, donor area assessment, surgical planning, anesthesia, graft extraction, graft handling, implantation, post-operative care, and long-term follow-up.
Every step matters.
Your donor area is limited. Once grafts are removed, they cannot be replaced. If the donor area is overharvested or handled badly, the damage can be permanent.

Once the patient is sedated or lying face down, the doctor disappears. The surgery is then handled by unknown staff, temporary technicians, or poorly trained hands.
This is the “ghost surgeon” tactic.
The patient pays for the name of a surgeon but receives treatment from someone else.
This is not transparency. This is betrayal.
Let me be very honest. A hair transplant is a long procedure. It can take 6 to 8 hours or sometimes longer. It is normally a team-based procedure. No ethical clinic should pretend that one surgeon alone is continuously doing every single movement for the entire duration.
But there is a major difference between a properly trained medical team working under strict doctor supervision and an unqualified team secretly replacing the surgeon without the patient’s knowledge.
The first is ethical teamwork.
The second is deception.
Another unethical practice is graft count manipulation.
To understand this, you must know what a graft means.
A graft is a naturally occurring follicular unit. It may contain 1, 2, 3, or sometimes 4 hairs. In a good hair transplant, these natural units are preserved carefully.
But some clinics manipulate this.
For example, if one natural 3-hair graft is extracted, an unethical clinic may split it into three separate single-hair grafts on paper. Then they may claim they have implanted “three grafts” instead of one.
This artificially inflates the graft count.
Why does this matter?

So, if the numbers are manipulated, the patient may end up paying more without actually receiving more true graft units.
Even worse, unnecessary splitting can reduce graft quality and affect density.

What exactly do you mean by graft?

Will I receive a proper graft count after surgery?
Will the clinic explain the difference between grafts and follicles?
